Advent Week 2 - Day 2
Advent Week 2: Day 2: The Deceptive Whisper
(Jeremiah 17:9, Romans 7:21-23)
The world, like a cunning serpent, often disguises its counsel as appealing whispers. "Follow your heart," it murmurs, "Fulfill your desires." Yet, Jeremiah 17:9 declares, "The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick; who can understand it?" Our hearts, tainted by sin, are unreliable compasses.
Romans 7:21-23 paints a vivid picture of this internal struggle: "So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and holding me captive to the law of sin that is in my members."
Reflection:
Can you identify any areas where you've allowed the world's whispers to influence your choices?
How can focusing on God's Word become a shield against these deceptive messages?
