Trusting Jesus - Day 4

 Todays scripture readings are from Proverbs 3:5-7 and Romans 8:28

Proverbs 3:5-7

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

6In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths.

7Do not be wise in your own eyes;

Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Much like in the story of Lazarus in John chapter 11, Mary and Martha did not fully understand Jesus’ plan or purpose for their pain. Proverbs 3:5-6 serves as a powerful reminder that true wisdom doesn't reside in our own intellect or meticulously crafted plans, but rather in unwavering trust in God's divine guidance. This verse is a profound call to surrender our own limited understanding and plans, acknowledging Him in every decision, big or small. It's a conscious choice to relinquish control and humbly submit to His wisdom, a wisdom far greater than any human could possess. This divine wisdom is revealed through His Word, the Bible, and by seeking His guidance through prayer and attentive listening. By embracing this principle, we open ourselves to a path of deeper peace, fulfillment, and a life that reflects His glory. As Romans 12:2 commands us, “do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” We can only know God’s perfect will for our lives when we allow him to transform our minds, that is our thinking, through His written Word.

When we embrace his purpose and will for our lives, we recognize that God is working all things together for our good. This doesn't mean that life will be easy or pain-free, but it means that God is always at work. He is the skilled craftsman, shaping and forging our lives into a masterpiece, using every challenge and joy as tools to refine and perfect us.

Like wise Romans 8:28 provides a powerful foundation for unwavering trust in God. When we face difficult times, it's easy to become consumed by the immediate challenges, losing sight of the bigger picture. However, this verse reminds us that God is working on a grander scale, a scale that extends far beyond our current comprehension. It encourages us to trust in His sovereignty, acknowledging that He is ultimately in control, even when we feel powerless. This understanding, that God is orchestrating all things for our good, brings a profound sense of peace and comfort, especially during times of uncertainty and fear. This knowledge empowers us to face challenges with courage and hope, knowing that God is walking alongside us every step of the way, guiding us towards a future filled with purpose and joy.
