Advent Week 1 - Day 2
Day 2: Faith in the Midst of Darkness
Reading: Isaiah 9:1-7, Matthew 4:12-17, John 8:12
Today's Scripture reading speaks of light shining in darkness, a powerful metaphor for faith. Just as in life, walking through darkness can lead to injury, spiritual darkness often leads to emptiness unless we run to the light, only then will we truly see and avoid pitfalls and the snares of sin. In what areas of your life do you feel surrounded by darkness? How can you actively choose to "run to the light" of Christ in these situations? Remember that Jesus is the "great light" prophesied by Isaiah. Spend time in prayer, asking God to strengthen your faith and help you see His light even in the darkest circumstances. Consider how you might be a beacon of hope to someone else struggling in darkness.
