John 14 Part 1
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” - Jn 14:6
In John 14, Jesus speaks to His disciples in a moment of deep distress. He had just told them He was going away—going to the Father, to prepare a place for them. Their hearts were troubled, filled with fear and uncertainty. But Jesus reassures them with this powerful truth: they already know the way to where He is going—because they know Him.
Jesus declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). He doesn’t just point them toward a path; He is the path. He is not just a messenger of truth; He is the truth. He doesn’t just offer life; He is life itself.
For the disciples, and for us today, this means that eternal life is not found in religious rituals, moral achievements, or personal efforts. It is found in a relationship with Jesus. To know Him is to know the way to the Father. To trust Him is to have assurance, even in times of uncertainty.
So when our hearts are troubled—when we face loss, confusion, or fear—we must remember that our hope is not in understanding every detail of the future, but in knowing the One who holds the future. Jesus has gone ahead to prepare a place for us, and He will return to bring us home. Until then, we walk in faith, knowing that because we know Him, we know the way.
