Part 2
6For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 NKJV
The narrative in Joshua chapter 9 serves as a poignant reminder of the dire consequences of disregarding God's counsel. The Gibeonites, through their cunning deception, exploited the Israelites' haste and refusal to seek the counsel of the Lord. This tragic event is the beginning of a long, tumultuous relationship with God, constantly turning away from His guidance as such, it underscores the importance of seeking God's wisdom before making significant decisions. As Proverbs 3:5-6 forewarns us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” In the same vein, Psalm 119:105 declares, “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path." By neglecting to consult God, the Israelites forfeited the opportunity to discern the truth and ultimately compromised their spiritual integrity. As believers, we must heed the call to seek the divine council of Jesus Christ. He is the ultimate source of wisdom and truth, and His Word, the Bible, is our infallible guide. Just as a shepherd leads his flock, Jesus guides us through life's challenges and temptations. By relying on His Word and the Holy Spirit's illumination, we can navigate the complexities of this world and avoid the pitfalls that can lead to spiritual decline
