Christ Is Our Life: Rejoice In All Things - Part II

Oct 26, 2025    Pastor Steve Kerns

This week, we are challenged to completely reframe our understanding of suffering. We live in a world that teaches us to seek comfort and avoid pain at all costs, and this mindset often bleeds into our faith. We enthusiastically accept the "grant" of salvation but resent the "grant" of suffering. Paul, however, presents them as a package deal, a twofold privilege gifted to us on behalf of Christ. We must ask ourselves: Do we view our trials as a sign of God’s absence, or as a God-given mark of true discipleship? Do we believe that conflict is an interruption of our faith, or is it, as Paul experienced, an integral part of a life lived for Christ?. Everyone wants the salvation that Christ offers, but we must remember that He suffered and died for us, and as His followers, we are called to that same willingness.

Therefore, the call to action is to stop running from the conflict that belief in Christ inevitably brings. Instead of being "terrified by your adversaries," we are to stand fast, recognizing that our courage is a "proof... of salvation" from God Himself. Let's make a conscious decision to see our hardships not as a liability, but as a "granted" opportunity to magnify Christ. When the world persecutes us, we will not be ashamed. When we are hated for righteousness, we will see it as a privilege. Let your conduct be worthy of the entire gospel, embracing both the peace of His salvation and the honor of sharing in His suffering
