Jesus; The Son of God
Jesus; The Son of God - John 10:22-42 - Pastor Steve Kerns - Sunday November 24, 2024
The Bible teaches the deity of Christ as an essential doctrine.
The New Testament portrays Jesus as both fully human and fully divine. He claims divine attributes, performs miracles only God could do, and is worshipped as God.
Jesus' claims: Jesus claimed to be God incarnate, the Son of God, and the way to salvation. He demanded worship and faith in Him as God.
The apostles' belief: The early Christian apostles and the New Testament writers believed in Jesus' deity and taught it to others.
The foundation of salvation: If Jesus is not God, His sacrifice on the cross is insufficient to atone for sins. His deity is essential for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
The nature of God: Christianity is monotheistic, believing in one God. The doctrine of the Trinity explains that God exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus, as the Son, is part of this divine Trinity.
The uniqueness of Christianity: The deity of Christ sets Christianity apart from other religions. It is the core belief that defines Christian faith and practice.
Denying the deity of Christ undermines the core message of Christianity and the validity of the Christian faith. It removes the foundation for salvation, the authority of Jesus, and the uniqueness of Christianity.
